Day of rest in Italy

Sunday is a day off for us in southern Italy, so we've been exploring nearby Lecce



With it's town centre Roman amphitheatre, multiple churches



And very reasonable pavement cafés (€1 for a double espresso!).

I spent the afternoon gaining funny looks for reading my book while sitting on the beach (it touched 24c this afternoon) I was very happy in shorts and tee shirt, but all the passing locals had long trousers and jackets on.

This morning I also went for a walk before breakfast to watch fish being landed and other fruits of the sea and land being bought and sold. It's been a good day - I feel rested and ready for another 60+hour week!
